Sculpteur de formation et artiste sonore, Méryll Ampe établit des liens entre ces deux pratiques.
Après une formation de sculpture sur bois à l’Ecole Boulle, Méryll mène un travail de création plastique et sonore aux Beaux-Arts de Paris-Cergy. Pendant ses études Méryll Ampe a pu assister les artistes sonores Robin Meier à Paris et Manuel Rocha Irturbide à Mexico.

Dans son travail Méryll Ampe établit des liens entre sa pratique sonore et sculpturale. Ampe conçoit le son comme un médium à sculpter en temps réel et improvise à partir de sources analogiques (oscillos, filtres, drum machine). Jouant avec l’imbrication de volumes, de perspectives et de dynamiques, Méryll crée des matières acérées et très brutes.

Méryll Ampe aime également frôler les limites du son et creuse dans sa chair avec un intérêt permanent pour la rugosité et la porosité. En live, Ampe s’engage de manière instinctive et radicale, faisant appel à l’écoute du lieu et du corps qui lui sert de baromètre pour tisser des états sonores massifs qui se déploient, se croisent, se mélangent ou se décomposent. En résultent de tonitruantes salves de bruit abstrait et de saturations rythmiques.

Son travail évolue à travers différents médiums auprès d’artistes, musiciens, chorégraphes, et vidéastes, tels le collectif COAX, le collectif Supernova, Christian Rizzo, Mélanie Perrier, Fernando Vilchez, Elsa Brès, Boris Achour, Gwenola Wagon et Stéphane Dégoutin.

Méryll Ampe s’est notamment produit en concert dans différents lieux et festivals en France et à l’Internationale : Les Instants Chavirés, Présences Électronique Festival, Sonic Protest Festival, Palais de Tokyo, Centre Pompidou-Paris (France), LUFF and Cave 12 (CH), E-Fest (Tunisia), H-ear (Holland), Notam (Norway), Nananjo (Spain), New Rivers (England), HS (Belgium),AURAL (Mexico), 4Fakultät (Germany)

Sculptor and sound artist, the work of Méryll Ampe swings between both practices.

After studying wood sculpture at the Ecole Boulle (Paris), Méryll leads a visual and sound creation at the Beaux-Arts School of Paris-Cergy. During the studies, Méryll Ampe has attended several sound artists such as Robin Meier in Paris and Manuel Rocha Irturbide in Mexico City.

As sound and visual artist, Méryll Ampe develops artworks through field recordings, electronic. Ampe conceives sound as a medium to be sculpted in real time and improvises from analog sources (oscillos, filters, drum machine). Playing with the interweaving of volumes, perspectives and dynamics, Méryll creates sharp and very raw materials.

Méryll Ampe also likes to skirt the limits of sound and dig into its flesh with a permanent interest for roughness and porosity. In live performances, Ampe engages instinctively and radically, calling upon the listening of the place and the body that serves as a barometer to weave massive sound states that unfold, intersect, mix or decompose. The result is thunderous bursts of abstract noise and rhythmic saturations.

Méryll Ampe work is plurial. Méryll has been working with artists, musicians, choreographers and video artists such as Collectif COAX, Collectif Supernova, Christian Rizzo, Mélanie Perrier, Fernando Vilchez, Elsa Brès, Boris Achour, Gwenola Wagon et Stéphane Dégoutin.
